We're on board

So MK, T. Willy and I spent part of our day in my classroom setting up. We had such a good time. MK was a big help and T. said over and over, "I love it here." They played school and explored a little bit. So here are some pictures of our day.

MK made this umbrella. I am going to have the students write their names on raindrops and place them all around the board.

Maddie did this board. I need to get a border for it, but she did a nice job.

And kids in a classroom have to play school. Here is MK the teacher.

And T. Willy the student.

After dinner

So I took two very hungry kids out to dinner tonight. We went to the Big Man's restaurant. We had such a good time. I've felt like I've been so busy that I haven't spent a lot of time with them this week. It was good to reconnect and just relax with them. So short but sweet tonight. I took a picture of MK while we waited. She calls it her sleepy picture, because she was quite tired.

Good morning!

I'll use an exclamation point so you'll think I'm glad to be awake. In fact, I was awoken at 4:15, and haven't been able to go back to sleep. Now it's too late, because I fear that I'll fall asleep and not be able to wake up. I've checked blogs and Facebook, answered email, and cleared some shows from the DVR. Maybe I'll go pick out some new earrings....maybe I'll realize that I don't have more earrings. I'm babbling...blame the lack of sleep. I hope you have a great day....and plenty of sleep!!

Note to self....

Change up the earrings once in awhile. I am wearing the same earrings in nearly every picture.

Picture of the day

Here is T. Willy in his pajamas. He was having so much fun with this flag tonight. He even put it "to bed." He gave it its own pillow and covered it with a blanket.

First Day

The first day at work went well. We had chapel, a fire drill, Art and recess, in addition to the regular subjects. Wow...what a full day. And because I am me, I usually have some kind of ambivalence about every new big thing in life. It happened to me today on the way home. I really like the school and the people are great, but it's about a 35 minute drive, and I get home after 4:00. When I subbed at MK's school, I was home by 2:10. I started thinking about how much time I was losing with the kids. Then MK sent a message saying that T. Willy's school had called. They've never called before. I immediately thought he was upset that I was so late, and they were calling to get me to calm him down. I was only 2 minutes from his school. When I got there, I found out it was just about a tax number that the Big Man had asked for. T. was happily playing when I got to his room, and wasn't upset at all. What a relief.

One funny thing...the first comment a student made to me was that the boys were disappointed because I wouldn't know how to play football. When they were at recess, the other teacher played football with the boys, and I don't think a single boy spoke to me. Then the teacher was nursing a sore knee, so he took a break. I grabbed a ball and played with the boys...as much as I could in a skirt and sandals. I proved that girls can play football. I threw and caught and, eventually, all the boys were playing with me. So, I think they're going to be okay with me. Tomorrow is the other teacher's last day, so Monday will be completely different, but I'm eager to establish myself in the classroom.

MK is feeling better. She went back to school today and seems much better.

So, that's it for me. I guess it's time to make dinner. The Big Man won't be home for a couple of hours, so I'll see what I can find for the rest of us. I'll try to take a picture later.

Busy Day

Today I went to the school to do paperwork and meet all of the people I need to meet. Wow...it was a full day! But it went really well. It seems like a great place to work, and the people were very friendly. I officially begin tomorrow, but the other teacher will be there. The students hadn't known why I was there, but they know now. A note was sent home to the parents explaining the change. Then on Monday, I'll be on my own.

After work I went shopping. That added to the long day. My dress code is now all dresses and skirts, so I needed to add to my wardrobe. It isn't a problem. I like dresses and wore them every day from fourth grade through college. There were a lot of sales, and I came home with a lot of clothes.

Then, I just wanted to come home and spend time with the family. MK went to the doctor today and is feeling better. She had dinner waiting for me when I got home, which was greatly appreciated, and it was just nice to relax and hang with them.

So, I'm going to post an old picture as a challenge to myself (also because I didn't have time today to take a new one.) I haven't really mentioned it on the blog, but I have lost a bit of weight in the past couple of years. However, I've gotten lazy this winter, and need to work on it some more. This picture is from last summer. It's one of my favorites and, to me at least, the weight loss shows in my face. So, that's a challenge to myself. It's feeling like spring here...no excuses to hide behind sweaters.

Have a great day!

Picture of the Day

My contacts have been bothering me (yes, Noelle, I should get the surgery, but I'm chicken!,), so I've resorted to wearing my glasses more often until I make an appointment with the eye doctor. And here is what I look like in glasses...few people see this in person.

MK came home from school and took a nap. When she woke up, she was burning up, so she is officially sick too. I gave her some medicine and she is feeling a bit better, but it's unlikely she'll be going to school tomorrow.

I hope you are well and have a good evening!

Oh happy day!

It's Mardi Gras, but that's not why I'm celebrating. I was offered the job! I am so happy and relieved. I'll go in tomorrow to discuss a few things, then I'll actually begin on Thursday. The other teacher will be there Thursday and Friday, and I'll go in to watch the class and get used to the routine.

T. Willy is feeling better today, but he was still feverish, so he stayed home yet again. He woke up crying, so I knew he wasn't well yet, because he always wakes up happy. MK and the Big Man are both complaining of sore throats, so it looks like it's running its course through the family. I will be glad for it to be over!

My dear friend, Shannon, has had a sick little girl. Her 8 year old was admitted to the hospital today with some high levels that will be rechecked tomorrow. She said it's scary, but they are expecting everything to be okay.

And that's it. Have a great day!

What's happening

T. Willy is sick, so I took him to the doctor today. He was in good spirits and made the doctor laugh several times, but still has tonsillitis and nasal yuck (not an actual medical term.) He has some medicine and is resting...and milking mommy's good graces. I keep hearing, "Mommy...Mommy." So I've gone in the room, and he asks,"Can you hand me the remote?" and my favorite, "Can you pause the remote?" Seriously, this is my independent child, but once illness hits, he truly turns into a man.

This morning I went to the school where I hope to work. I sat in on the class that I would have and it was really great. The kids were sweet and well behaved, and I learned a lot about their routine. If this works out, I want to maintain their schedule as much as possible. It's too late in the year to disrupt them. After that, we tried a new place for lunch. Actually, it isn't new, just new to us, but it was great....a little hole in the wall bbq place, and it was excellent!

And...my parents went on a trip to Texas with their pastor and his wife. They are attending a conference and staying on a ranch. I am oh so jealous...of the ranch, not the conference. My mom sent some pictures, so here they are.

So that's it. I hope you're having a great day!

Cutting it close

Since I determined to post a picture every day, I have done so. I nearly didn't make it today. I was just having a fun night and almost forgot. But here is today's picture. It is MK yesterday when we went out to dinner. This is our favorite local pizza...and my favorite girl hiding behind it.

We're home and ready to start another week. This morning I met with the pastor at the church that is home to the Christian school where I applied. The people at the church were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. I'm going to the school in the morning to sit in on the class that I will potentially take over. I'm looking forward to it. I hope you have a great week!

Just another day at the beach

It's too cold to swim, but that doesn't stop anyone from walking in the water. Here are a couple of pictures of the beach as it looked today.

Good morning

We are up and trying to start our day. T. Willy has a bad cough, but it isn't keeping him down. I'm not sure what we are going to do today...maybe a movie and shopping. We are close to all of our favorite places, so it shouldn't be hard to find something to do. My only dilemma right now is getting a shower; the teenager has commandeered the bathroom. I hope you have a great day!

Life's a Beach

We are at the beach. It isn't beach weather, because it's quite chilly, but it's beautiful, and it isn't home. It's only 40 minutes from home, but feels very different.

MK and I left the guys at the hotel earlier and went shopping. We each found a dress and she found a shirt that I had to buy for her, mostly because I thought it was funny. It has a rock, a piece of paper, and a pair of scissors...and on it is written: Choose your weapon. Then we all went out to dinner. After dinner we went to Barnes & Noble and looked around and read for a long time. We went a couple more places then back to the hotel. MK and I thought about going to a movie, but once we got back to the hotel, it just felt too good to be here and not go out. So, everyone is in bed, except for me.

The wifi was down, so I thought I wasn't going to get to post tonight, but I gave it one more try and was able to get on. I'll close with pictures then I'll go to bed.

Kids at B&N

On the way.

We are packed and headed to the beach. It's too chilly to swim, but we will shop and relax and go out to eat! We found a great deal on the hotel which won't last because Spring Break rates start next week. I brought the laptop so I'll try to post pictures. Have a great weekend!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I've been kind of under the weather since last weekend. I usually go to the doctor, but this time I started feeling better, so I didn't go. I should have. I think I'm coming out of it, but yesterday and today have been unpleasant. My in-laws have been in town and graciously helped us with some projects around the house. We have a working light on the back patio now, a working lamp in the living room, a kitchen cabinet that closes tight...and most of all...a newly mulched flowerbed in the front yard. We laid sod in it a few years ago but wanted a change. We all worked last night to dig it up, and today, (while I slept) they mulched it. It looks great and is now ready for some plants. So, thank you very much for that, because I know it was a lot of work.

And here is a picture of T. Willy. He was having fun playing in the Big Man's truck while everyone worked. We haven't seen him in shorts in a long time and hadn't realized just how tall and thin he has gotten.

Happy Birthday, Dad!!!

Today is my dad's 70th birthday! I hope it's a great day for him!

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

You can look....it isn't what you think

This is the tire.

The Big Man found it this morning...fortunately...it was under a table! T. Willy didn't swallow it after all. We aren't sure why he said he did, but he didn't! However, he did still get it off the vehicle, so it was important to let the company know, because it could still be a choking hazard. We are so relieved. T. Willy has a cough and every time he coughed, I would jump to make sure he wasn't choking. And, although I would do what I had to, I'm very glad I didn't have to dissect anything.

In other news, I had a job interview today. It was at a Christian school in a nearby town, and the open position is for a fourth grade teacher for the remainder of this year. However, if they were to ask me back, there is an English position open for next year. The school looked very nice, and I am eager to see what happens. I really love subbing, especially because I get to be at MK's school, but a schedule and paycheck that I can depend on would be really nice! I'll let you know when I do.

We are planning a getaway to the beach. We'll leave Friday and come home Sunday. It is shaping up to be a very eventful weekend! I can't wait to tell you all about it...well, almost all.

And, that's what's new with us. I hope you have a great night and a wonderful weekend!

Tuesday

It was back to school today after a nice long weekend. We fell back into our regular routine. The Big Man started a vacation today. He is ready to do some projects around the house and gets lots of rest. After two weeks of subbing every day, I had the day off. The Big Man's parents are in town, so we pretty much spent the day with them at their house. T. Willy had a good time with them. They have two dogs, and T. takes a little while to get used to them. Once he did, he happily spent the afternoon with them, and I came home for a bit and took a nap. I am still a bit under the weather. I was feeling much better yesterday, but took a step back today.

So, here is a picture of T. Willy and his Pap. Everyone except T. has an iPhone, and he would walk from person to person asking whose he could use. So here he is using Granny's, I think.

See the yellow one in the middle?

This was a toy from a kid's meal. It is supposed to have a spare tire on the back. We have one of these....it does not have the spare tire anymore. It is somewhere inside of T. Willy. He came up to me last night and said that he had swallowed it and wanted medicine. Well, I didn't give him medicine, and it is apparently still inside of him.

The Big Man e-mailed the company to let them know. Someone directly from the company called me. They are sending a mailer so that we can mail the toy back and they can inspect it. Later a representative from a consumer company called me and asked many of the same questions for their own information. The second woman said that she had one of the toys in front of her and was struggling with the spare tire and unable to dislodge it from the toy, but somehow our four year old was able to do it...that's our boy! Anyway, they both expressed concern and said that their priority is safe toys for children. I appreciated it, and will keep checking T. Willy's comings and um....goings to see if it passes.

Otherwise we had a lovely day. I hope you did too!

Taking suggestions

So...we are discussing the possibility of getting a dog. We've actually been talking about it for awhile. We think it will be when school is out, so we'll have plenty of time with it. Just wondering if anyone has some advice or would like to share positive experiences they've had. After Sugar, we weren't ready for another pet, but now it's feeling like it's time. So, if you have any words of wisdom, I'd love to hear from you. We are thinking a small-medium dog, likely from a shelter.

Pizza night

The Big Man invited us to breakfast at the restaurant this morning. It was a lot of fun, and we absolutely did not need lunch. My allergies are acting up, so I took some medicine and napped the afternoon away.

We made pizza for dinner. I made the crust and sauce from scratch, then everyone assembled their own. They definitely looked homemade, but they were delicious. So here are pictures of the night.

MK made a cake and decorated it with M&M's. She spelled "Team Geb(heart)" on it, but it's a little hard to see. She cut her piece before I was able to get a picture of it.

And to close, MK sent me this picture of herself, so I wanted to post it. I told her it looked like an album cover...that made her day!

See this baby....

We took her to high school orientation tonight!!! It is hard to believe, but it's true. She has chosen her classes for next year, so I hope she gets the ones she wants. Her chosen electives are band, French, and Drama. Up until 7th grade, this was a bashful, hide-behind-mom girl....unless you put her on a stage. She didn't want to answer a question in class, but said a Bible verse in front of the crowd at her Kindergarten graduation. She has always been like that. However, while she still likes the stage, she is no longer shy. So these classes should work well for her, if she gets them all.

And that was our night. I hope you had a great one!!

(I apologize for the blurry pictures lately. Maybe one day I'll get all of the old photos scanned, but it will be awhile. Mostly I'm apologizing to my dad, because he taught me better!!)

Long may you run

Not much to blog about. I worked a half day today and expect tomorrow to be the same. But I was able to secure a full day on Friday.

It was a nice night. We cooked hamburgers on the grill, and I made homemade french fries: one of our favorite meals. MK was a big help in the kitchen. I have a little gadget to slice the fries, and MK had a fun time figuring it out.

Tonight's picture is again a picture of a picture, hence the blurriness. This was the car I drove in high school...a '67 Mustang. I mentioned it here. I loved this car!

Siblings

Like MK, I have just one brother. However, my brother is nearly 5 years older than I am, and her brother is 9 years younger than she is. Our experiences are very different. She is a good big sister. She loves T. Willy very much, but like any older sister, gets tired of him at times.

MK has several "Build-a-Bears." She has a few that she has given to T. Willy, but, even though she no longer plays with them, she has some that she doesn't let him touch. Tonight, this is what we found when it was time for him to go to bed.

She wrote him a note telling him that he could now play with these toys. He was delighted.

Today was an unusual day. During the official testing, I just sat in the hall and just made sure no "stragglers" tried to get into their classes and disrupt. After that, I tested a few kids who had come in late. Tomorrow we'll test kids who were absent today.

MK has been on the fence about doing band next year. The band director from the high school came to visit her school, and she is leaning toward being in the band again. He answered several questions that she had and they were the answers she hoped for. I have mentioned many times about how small our town is, but we really do like it. I especially like that no matter what elementary or middle school they go to, they all grow up to be "Bulldogs," because there is only one high school. But for such a small school, the band is huge and full of opportunities. They were in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade a few years ago. They travel a lot...Hawaii and London in the last few years. I'm hoping that she gets to go on some nice trips too.

So, that's it! Good night!

And here's a somewhat embarrassing story...

Last night, around 9:15, I walked our garbage can to the curb. The Big Man was at work, and the kids were in bed. I noticed something that appeared to be an animal's tail by my neighbor's can. As soon as I saw it, though, it pulled back. I'm not sure why, but I went to the other side to see what it was. That is when I realized that it was human! He or she was curled into a ball, apparently hiding from me. Scared me to death! So, I RAN into the garage, closed the door as quickly as I could and set the house alarm. I immediately tried to call my neighbor. Her phone was busy time after time. So I was able to get in touch with another neighbor who graciously drove past the house a couple of times. No sign of anyone. At this point, I'm starting to feel very foolish. Had I just imagined it? Finally I got through to my neighbor. It turns out that it was her 9 year old son (who, incidentally, is not a small kid.) He had taken something to the garbage and, when he saw me coming, had hidden from me so I wouldn't see that he was only wearing his boxers. He heard me run away from him, and told his mom he thought he'd scared me. He was right!

Subbing was great today. They all took tests which kept the students busy and quiet, and it was such a fun day. This teacher's last period is a planning period, which doesn't give me much to do, so I left early. I haven't done that before, but I did check with the office. It was nice to come home for about 45 minutes before MK got home from school and enjoy a quiet house.

It was a beautiful springlike day, so I felt inspired to start planning some landscaping for the spring. I took the kids to a nursery north of town. MK was reluctant to go, but her friend joined us, and then she couldn't stop talking about how much she liked it. T. Willy had a ball exploring and trying to say names of plants and trees. It was so fun. We also went to Lowe's to look at their plants. It was a really nice afternoon, and I'm wishing my gardening budget was much bigger, because I am full of ideas!!

Not to seem like a complete Grinch, but I usually boycott Valentine's Day. It has always seemed like a commercial day, and it really didn't hold any appeal to me. However, I've noticed that MK is getting that attitude, and I didn't like the way it sounds. Yes, I still think it's commercial and feel we should tell our loved ones how we feel year round, but I also don't see the harm in setting aside a day to make a point of it. This year I'm trying to think of some fun things to do for the kids on Saturday. I welcome any suggestions. One thing I'll do is pull out the heart shaped pan. I plan to make a cake in it early in the day, then bring it back out and make heart shaped deep-dish pizza for dinner. We've watched many Food Network shows about deep-dish pizza; it's time to give it a try.

So I'll leave you with a picture of the kids at the nursery. Have a great night!

If my goal had been a month, I'd be there now.

Here is MK after her recent trip to the dentist. No real reason for the pic, I just like it.

T. Willy seems much better tonight. So, it's off to school again tomorrow. I'm subbing at MK's school again tomorrow for the same class I've been in the last few days. The rest of the week will be spent proctoring the state writing test. I'm not sure how much they'll need me, but they booked me for four days. MK is putting pressure on herself, because last year she made a "6" which is the highest score she can get, and she's determined to get the same this year. Speaking of her and school, high school registration packets came home on Friday. High school?!?!?! It is unbelievable to me.

Otherwise, all is well here. Have a great night.

Saturday, February 07, 2009

Blahhhhhh

Today was a very blah day. T. Willy is under the weather, so we stayed home all day. I tried to think of something fun to write, but nothing really happened. I did laundry and cleaned Ty's room. Well, one highlight is that MK and I sat on my bed and talked for about an hour and half...just talking about anything and everything. She really has a lot of insight for 13. I love that girl.

So...to offset my blah day, I will share a picture of one of my Christmas presents which I loved, loved, loved. When asked what I wanted for Christmas, I asked for shirts from colleges and universities. I was given just what I asked for. I now have a University of Delaware sweatshirt and T-shirt, a sweathshirt from Liberty, the college that I attended, and a shirt from the University of Pennsylvania....not a school that I attended, but I've driven past it! And it's in Philadelphia, the city I tell most people I'm from, because when I say Delaware, I frequently get a blank look, but people have usually heard of Philly.

Nostalgia

This week has had a lot of strolls down memory lane. I realized yesterday that it was Chuck's birthday. So I am going to post a picture of us together. It is a picture of a picture, so it's pretty blurry, but it's all I have.

And here is the story of the picture.

What you need to know first:

I went to a Christian school that did not have a "prom." We had a Junior/Senior Banquet which was essentially a prom without dancing. We dressed up in gowns and all but went to a nice restaurant and had "entertainment." I frequently call it a prom; it's just easier than explaining.

I had been dating a guy named Walt. He was supposed to go with me to this event. He cancelled on me very close to the last minute.

Chuck had been dating a girl for a long time, and they broke up right before this event.

So, seeing that we were both dateless, and the tickets had already been purchased, Chuck and I decided to go together. He was a great friend of mine. One night when I was working late at McDonald's, there was a little trouble and a police car was there. He was driving by and saw that, and stopped by to check on me. That's just the kind of guy he was. He always said we would go out, but this was the one and only time that we did.

We had a nice time. We sat with Noelle and her date (Matt, who ironically was college roommates with the Big Man, and that's how we met.) Then there was an event at the school afterwards. While we were there....Walt showed up!!! And he expected me to leave with him. Seriously, it was one of the most awkward moments of my life. Of course, Walt had not taken me, and Walt did not take me home. Ahhh..high school. That was a fun night, but always tainted....minorly by the appearance of Walt, but mostly because Chuck is gone.

So, here is that picture. If I find a better one, I'll post that.

And, because I hate to end on a down note, here is a repeat picture of MK in the same dress.

A bit of the random

Not much to report tonight. So I am going to Picasa to randomly choose a picture. I will post that picture and tell what it is about. Really reaching, no?

This was a good picture to choose. In 2006, the Big Man, MK, my brother, nephew and I visited the college that my brother, the Big Man, and I attended and from which we are all graduated. Things had changed so much, and this is a picture of that change. The college is in the mountains. A highway runs right next to it. When we were all there, there was an empty hillside next to the highway. Since then, that land has been developed and there are now dorms on it. They tunneled through and now you can walk from the main campus to the dorms under the highway. So here are my brother and nephew standing by the entrance.

And since I'm taking this stroll down memory lane, here are some other pictures of that visit.

That was the last time we drove north. We usually fly, so we made some nostalgic stops on the way. This is the hospital where MK was born in Statesville, North Carolina.

The lower apartment is where we lived when MK was born. My good friend, Patti, lived upstairs. We had our first babies one month apart.

This was my dorm. I lived in it for two years: first floor and second floor. I was also on the side next to the woods. The Big Man used to come and talk to me through the window when I was on the first floor. It was a Christian college, so that was technically against the rules...rebels!

The ice rink was brand new when we visited. We used to have to drive about an hour to Roanoke to see the college hockey team play.

The Big Man and I married when we were in college. This was our first home. It looks like a house but was really four apartments. We lived on the top left and it was brand new when we moved in.

When we were on campus, this building was one story. We were told that it had been built to accommodate floors being added. They meant it. Now it's a beautiful, collegiate building.

There are many other pictures, but that's enough. I sub early tomorrow so I still have things to do to get ready. Have a great night!

The events of today

Thankfully, today was a nice lowkey day. MK and the Big Man had a morning out and went out to lunch before he had to be at work. It was nice for them to get some time together. I subbed for the same teacher as yesterday. It went really well, and there wasn't a lot of talk about the bus incident.

MK's morning out with the Big Man didn't go quite as smoothly as I may have made it seem. As it turns out, I sent them to the wrong office, so they drove all the way for nothing. But they did have a good time together, and the appointment was rescheduled at our local office so that I could take her after school. T. Willy enjoys her appointments, because they have an area set up for siblings. It has toys and video games, so he was in his element. In fact, when it was time to go, he did not want to leave. So, today's pictures are of T. playing a video game and then lying on the bench outside of the office. He asked for me to take his picture and then posed for it.

Determination

I set a goal of posting a picture every day for a year. I have succeeded so far, but today I had to drag myself out of bed for it.

Tomorrow three of us will be at MK's school for a few minutes. I am subbing, she will be there, and the Big Man has to pick her up for an orthodontist appointment. The progress on her bottom teeth is going slowly, so they are going to change a bracket to try to improve it. For this he has to take her to the main office in another town. After her appointment, he will go to work, then we have four nights in a row that he'll be working late. Those shifts are nice for him because he can rest. He just goes without seeing us for awhile.

My parents both made it home safely. I talked to them last night. They had great trips and made it home within ten minutes of each other.

So here's your picture tonight. There was some snow in the North again today, so I thought I'd post a picture of the sunny beach. Warm weather will be back before you know it.

We. Are. Fine.

Subbing has picked up. I am subbing every day this week and it looks like next week as well. On my way home from school today, MK sent me this text: "We're fine. Hit a car. We. Are. Fine." She has said things by text that worried me to death, then when she explains, it's nothing. We realize that texting is great and fast, but you can't infer tone from them. So she did a good job of letting me know everything was okay so that I didn't worry. Her school bus did hit a car, and she said the car was pretty smashed, but apparently there were no serious injuries. MK hit her cheek on the seat when the brakes hit suddenly, but it's nothing serious. Now she has a story to tell at school tomorrow...a story that I'm hopeful will not be embellished for effect.

That was our excitement for the day; I'm thankful it was limited in this aspect. I hope your day had none of that excitement but lots of fun!

Soooo...

As if posting a picture of myself in 3D glasses wasn't embarrassing enough, I am now going to post a picture of myself from high school. Please keep in mind that it was the 80s!! And we were on a car trip to Boston! And I was apparently unprepared for the picture. I am 16 in this picture, and sitting by Jimmy Price, one of my classmates. I saw him this summer and was amazed at how he still has the ability to make me laugh.

So here is me then....

And here is a picture of me today before I left to sub.

And, that's it for today. Have a great night!

Memory Lane

A couple of friends of mine posted pictures of our high school years today. I spent much of the day laughing and remembering and biting my nails hoping there wouldn't be any too embarrassing pictures of me. There was at least one, but it was blurry. It was from my "Sun-in" period. My hair was ORANGE, and I had a horrible perm. But we shared memories and had such a fun time that it was even worth some embarrassment.

While waiting for the Big Man to get home from work in a couple of hours, I am trying to post some of the old pictures that I have, but so far they are just turning out blurry. I'm working on them, and hope to post some tonight. Until then, I've finally loaded the videos from our trip to Delaware at Christmas. We had just gotten a new camera, so I was trying it out. My brother and I are being silly...but it's MK who makes me laugh. It's just out of character for her.

It became very quiet toward the end.

But we were cheering when it was over. I couldn't watch anymore, so I was putting T.Willy to bed when we heard, "Go! Go! Go!" from the living room. Funny enough, it was coming from MK as much as the Big Man. So we went back in and saw the end. It was a great game, and only an Eagles win could have been better, for me at least.

My mom heads home tomorrow. I'm assuming my dad may too. He tried to call today, but the Big Man was on the phone. Then it was busy when I tried to call back. Hopefully I'll get to talk to both of them tomorrow.

Have a great week!!

The lengths I'll go to be in the "know"

Here is a picture of me in my new 3D glasses. We have only been watching pre-game coverage since we got up this morning. During the course of that, we learned that there is going to be a 3D commercial during the Super Bowl, and a 3D episode of "Chuck" tomorrow night. So I went to the internet and found out where to get them, and went to my local Dollar General and picked some up for the people I love.

Anticipation

So, we are decked out in our Steelers gear. MK and the Big Man are wearing jerseys. I had a sweatshirt on yesterday and am wearing a t-shirt today (too warm for sweatshirts.) T. Willy has a Penguins shirt on, because he doesn't have a Steelers shirt right now, and we all have official Terrible Towels to wave. We are certainly hoping for a big win, but if it doesn't go our way, we'll enjoy the commercials anyway. Here are a couple of pictures while we wait.
