Good day...good day

It was a great day: church as a family and a nice lunch out together
and a nice long nap this afternoon. The Big Man even went to the
grocery store with me. It was a great way to end the weekend!

Super Bowl Redux

The Big Man made it home today. T. Willy was so excited. He acted
nonchalant at first, then he didn't leave the Big Man's side until he
went to bed.

MK went to a birthday party. She had a blast. It was mostly outside,
and they had a great time. They played "manhunt" which is apparently
hide and seek for big kids. They also had a fire which kept them
quite warm on this cold night. I am soooo looking forward to spring.

And this picture is of a razor I found for the Big Man when the Saints
made it to the Super Bowl.

Tomorrow...tomorrow...

The Big Man comes home tomorrow. That's all I have to say.

Almost.

This is an old picture of T. Willy. We stayed home today. He's
feeling better but is running a fever. He slept pretty much all day.

Almost home

The Big Man that is. He will be home Saturday. And T. Willy is
sick...so he will be extra happy to see his dad. It appears to be a
stomach bug, but it's been worse than his last one. MK is helping
just as much as she did last time. She really enjoys taking care of
him at times like these. I will stay home with T. tomorrow, so the
weekend has come early for me.

Random picture of the day

Not much to talk about today, so I chose a random picture. It was
taken when we went out to eat before Homecoming.

Today I had an observation by my peer teacher. It went really well.
The class did really well, and I really enjoyed the lesson. I just
hope the students did too!

Fun!

We had a great afternoon. It was a beautiful day, so I took the kids
to the park. MK took her French homework, and we took T. Willy's
friend, D. They had a ball playing together.

Afterwards we went to the library. T. Willy now has his very own
library card! He is so proud!

So that was our day. And here are pictures.

Cheeburger Cheeburger

That is where the Big Man had dinner tonight. He has been enjoying
that perk of his time away: expensed meals!

T. Willy talked to the Big Man tonight. I was sitting right next to
him when I heard, "I'm tired of holding the phone and talking." T. was
excited to talk to his dad, but like a five year old, his attention
span was short.

And the picture is of the restaurant where the Big Man ate tonight.
I'm glad he sent the picture, because I didn't think to take one
myself today.

Cracks me up

If you look closely, you'll see that our window is broken. The kids
were in the living room, and I was in my bedroom when we all heard a
loud crash. I went right to the kitchen where I found MK. My initial
thought was that my crock pot had cracked, because it was in use at
the time. But MK directed me to the window. There has been a small
hole in it for quite awhile. It looks like it could have been made by
a bb. I knew that it wasn't new, but as soon as we looked down, we saw
that the lower window was shattered. Thankfully, it's double paned,
and the screen softened the impact and prevented it from reaching
inside the house. I instantly suspected what had happened, and my
suspicions were confirmed when my phone began to ring. It was my
neighbor apologizing. Baseball and 9 year old boys! At first we
couldn't even find the ball, it was about 20 feet away.

It was totally an accident, and I wasn't upset at all. The poor kid
was very upset. I assured him it was okay, and he quickly calmed
down. No injuries...and his dad installs windows for a living, so it
all worked out fine. They came right over and his dad cleaned up the
glass and quickly measured for a new one. He thinks it will be here
by Wednesday.

At the mall

MK is in this dressing room. T. Willy said, "Awww, I thought MK was a
princess." He was reading the sign on the dressing room next to her.

Happy Birthday, Dad!!!

For his birthday, I am posting pictures of him and T. Willy when we
were in Delaware over Christmas break. T. Willy is enjoying his very
first snow...and my dad is probably laughing at that paltry amount of
snow compared to the record breaking snow they've had since then.

Blahhhh(g)

Not much going on, so here is a picture of T. Willy today. He
changed his outfit into this. It's green and grey: soldier colors
according to him.

America's next top model?

MK was in a good mood last night and asked me to take this picture.
She even said I could post it here. I guess the good mood continues.

Look carefully...actual Florida snowflakes.

An obligatory post

Well, I determined that I'd post every day, but, naturally, some days are more blogworthy than others. This is one of those days.

I went to bed nice and early last night, but woke up with a bad dream at 2:30. That kept me up for a bit, then when I did fall back asleep, I did not want to wake up. So I'm going to try to get to bed early again.

Today's picture is from Friday. It's of me when I was leaving school in the snow. If you look carefully, you can see a few flakes on my jacket. It was just so much fun!

Just some pictures of our weekend

Thank you, Presidents Washington and Lincoln.

Since today was a school holiday, I brought MK and two of her friends
to Destin for the afternoon. The friends are two very sweet and
hilarious girls. My jaws hurt from laughing on the ride down here.

Of course, the car ride is less fun for T. Willy who has to yell over
the giggles, so I let him play games on my phone. The picture is what
I found when I opened my camera roll.

Valentine's flowers.

But they're not for me. MK got these from her dad. They are really
beautiful and brighten up the house.

The Big Man left today for two weeks in Baton Rouge. He arrived
safely and has done some exploring. The kids and I are holding down
the fort. We're watching movies and looking forward to a day off
tomorrow. I hope you've had a happy day!

Date night

MK went with our friends, Courtney and Darlene, to see the Winterguard
compete today. So, the guys and I had a date. We are celebrating our
Valentine's tonight, because the Big Man is going away for a couple of
weeks. We had a great dinner, and now we're headed to do a little
shopping.

Snow? No snow. Snow!!!

We had pretty much given up on snow. We had a regular day of school. It was rainy all morning, but it even stopped at one point. We really didn't think it would happen. However, our attendance was really low (only 9 out of 20 came to first period)even though it was only raining. We didn't have much to do all day, and then the teacher next door came in and said, "Did you see the chunky rain?" We ran to the window and saw that it was sleeting. Soon the sleet turned to actual snow. It was beautiful! I took the students outside for a few minutes. A few other classes were out there too. It was a blast! Some of the students had never seen snow before, so they were really excited. We even had early release...25 minutes early. I'm not sure it was because of any dangerous conditions; the roads were wet but not slippery. I suspect it was just so that the kids could see it. We definitely weren't getting any work done at that point. After school kids were just running around the parking lot enjoying it.

I know for most of you, snow isn't that exciting. But for us, it is a really big deal. We've lived here for more than 12 years, and this is the first time we've seen snow at all. It didn't stick, but it was beautiful while it lasted. The memory of those kids smiling and literally squealing with excitement is one that will stay with me.

T. Willy gets home later than we do. He was excited about the snow too. They had a chance to go outside and play in it...pajamas and all!

Pajama Day

Instead of his Dick Van Dyke pajamas, we went with his snowmen.
Fitting for today...though while they're still calling for snow, it
hasn't happened yet. In my first period class, 9 of 20 kids showed
up. It's been an odd day.

Trying so hard not to get excited.

So, a couple of days ago I wrote about how dreary it was here and how
there was no hope of snow. Ooops. I was mistaken. There is hope.
They are calling for a wintry mix tonight and snow tomorrow. I've even
read that we could get an inch or two. For my family and friends in
Delaware, that's a mere dusting compared to what they've had in the
past week, but for us it would be monumental. The two counties west
of us have already cancelled school for tomorrow, but our county is
holding on. We are keeping an eye on it. A four day weekend would be
fun. Oh, the sleep we could get!!

We will dream of it tonight, but I'll leave you with a picture that my
brother sent. Can you believe they had more on top of all of this snow?

Get well soon

MK was under the weather today, so she stayed home. The Big Man was
off, so they were home together. It's strange for me when she isn't
there, because we have a routine. She rides with me, and I get a
chance to see her at lunchtime. I really missed her. She's feeling
better now, so she should be back tomorrow.

MK was well enough to help T. Willy make his box for his class
Valentine's Day party. They were supposed to have a theme, and she
was inspired to make it a Spongebob box. His party is Friday, and it's
also pajama day. We picked out his "Dick Van Dyke" pajamas. I'll be
sure to post a picture of that, but for now, his Valentine's box.

The Second Year is Hard

I am finding less motivation to post than I remember last year. Ugh. Maybe it's just that things are kind of dreary around here. The North is getting snow, and we have no hope of it. However, I'm not sure I'd want as much as they're getting. It's just cold and boring here. It's time for spring.

So here is a picture of my in-law's church on Sunday. They definitely had Saints fever.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program...

The Super Bowl is over. In case you haven't heard, the Saints won! Very exciting! I've been enjoying some of the plays on words that I've heard. Two of my favorites are "Drewbreesiana" and "Lombardi Gras."

I'm waiting around to go to a meeting for the chaperones of the cruise we're taking with MK's band. We will find out who we are chaperoning and some of the responsibilities involved. A woman that the Big Man works with took a cruise on the same ship last week. I'm eager to hear how it was.

Tonight's picture is of something I'm hoping to see soon. The DVD of "The Time Traveler's Wife" is being released. I loved the book and cannot wait to see the movie again!

Tooth Fairy, don't forget!!!

During the game

MK painted lines under her and T. Willy's eyes. He loved them. So he
walked to his dad and pointed out his dark lines. Then he looked at
the Big Man and said, "You don't need MK to paint lines for you." The
implication was that daddy already had dark lines under his eyes.
Thank goodness I didn't laugh, because he then said, "You don't need
them either, mommy."

Super Bowl Sunday!!!!

So if you've read my blog for the past two weeks, you'll have no doubt
who we're cheering for. Here are pictures of a shirt that T. Willy
wore when he was a toddler. He has outgrown it, but his teddy bear
wears it now.

We are waiting for the Big Man to get home from work. On the menu for
tonight is Red Beans and Rice, Gumbo, French Bread and chocolate
cupcakes. Go, Saints!

Friday night

It's Friday, and I'm going to bed at 9:10!!! I nearly forgot to post
something tonight, so thanks to the Big Man for the reminder.

Since I'm already in bed, I just have a photo in a jacket you've
already seen. However, the picture was taken today at school where I
was showing my spirit.

Saints fan and Australian candy.

Did you hear about the rare winter hurricane?

Felicity

MK was a "flag" this year in Color Guard. Today they were given
rifles to expand their repertoires. She is very excited about it, and
true to herself, she has named it. Her phone is Vanessa, and her bass
guitar is Stella. Meet Felicity.

Sunday's a'comin.

We had a good night at church and now are getting ready for a pretzel
and pajama party before bed. T. Willy spread out a blanket on the
living room floor, and I made soft pretzels, and we're all going to
wear our pajamas. He's eager to get it started, so I'll post a
picture and we'll be off.

The Big Man wore this shirt tonight. We are so ready for Sunday!!!

Tuesday, February 02, 2010

Here's hoping...

T. Willy grabbed this visor today. He told our neighbor that he's
going to wear it Sunday. He's a little bit excited!

Without even trying

T. Willy went to his friend, Dylan's, house today after school. It
was chilly, so he grabbed a hat to wear. I did not prompt him for it,
I promise.
