Trick or Treat

Here are some pictures of our evening. T. Willy was Elmo, not creative but easy and it was what he wanted. MK's costume took a bit of thought, but people guessed it. Can you?

MK in middle and friends gathered at our house. T. Willy was afraid of the one on the right, so she had to take her mask off to show him it was his old friend, M.

This is T. Willy and his buddy, D. They have been friends since D's mom and I used to walk them in their strollers as infants, but since school started, they don't get to see each other much. So they were very happy to trick or treat together, and very glad that D's dad brought a wagon!

Now we have more candy than we will ever need, but it was a fun night!!!

Family portraits

I wrote about our trip to New Orleans a few weeks ago for the celebration for my father in law. While we were there, they took some pictures of our families, so I am posting a couple of them.

Football is over and we are enjoying some quiet time. Trick or treating tomorrow...I'll be sure to post pictures of that too! Good night!

10/25, October 25th, the 25th day of October

It just has a ring to it, doesn't it? It's my birthday, I'm sure that's why I think so. We didn't have a huge celebration but it was still a fun day, not to mention the most beautiful day of the year so far. It is finally fall! I took my class to the Big Man's restaurant for a field trip. They graciously served us breakfast and we were able to tour the restaurant. The kids loved it! They couldn't stop talking about it, but their favorite part was the walk-in freezer. It was 8 below zero and the kids thought it was the greatest thing. They were less thrilled when we went back to school and actually had to work, but we managed to accomplish a few things.

Back to the restaurant for dinner, since the Big Man was working and it was the only time we were able to be together as a family today. He surprised me with a huge dessert and the servers singing Happy Birthday. I know it's supposed to embarrass me, but I get a kick out of it.

Now it's home to clean, clean, clean! Thanks for reading, and I hope you'll let me know when it's your birthday!

Going against my instincts!

A few months ago, I wrote about two experiences that had bothered me as a teen. I used REAL names, which totally goes against blogging etiquette, and I truly knew better. Busted! I have used some of my abilities to deduce, and I think one of those persons is reading this blog! So, you know who you are, and I hope you aren't upset with me. If it is you, please drop me a line and let me know how you're doing!!!

And now it's Saturday afternoon

We are in New Orleans now. We had a good and uneventful trip. T. Willy sang the Alphabet song no fewer than 32 times and Jesus Loves Me nearly as many. But he occupied himself and that was great. MK napped and listened to music and I read a book that I'm enjoying but can never seem to find time to read.

The Big Man and his mom took T. Willy and MK to do some things which left me some free time. I did some exploring which is unusual for me, because I don't know my way around here that well. MK needed some reeds for her clarinet so I found my way to a music store. I did some more shopping but lines were long and I didn't find anything that I just couldn't live without.

We are going to the Big Man's brother's house for dinner, and we are looking forward to that. I am going to rest and finish watching the LSU game. Go Tigers!

Have a great day!

Our weekend

We are leaving Saturday morning for New Orleans to visit the Big Man's family. My father-in-law is a pastor and has been at his church for 25 years. That is pretty remarkable and we are going to celebrate with the family. We are looking forward to a fun, although quick, trip.

All is going well for us. MK and T. Willy continue to enjoy school. MK has only 2 football games left. Tomorrow night is close to the beach and that is always a fun trip. After that they play their rival team (there are two middle schools in our town - it's the other one) and that is always fun because so many of the kids know each other. Friday afternoon is the high school's Homecoming parade (only one high school in town so the kids all end back up together) and MK will march in it with the band. She has been in the parade before, but this is much more official.

T. Willy is opening up so much. He talks non-stop and often in complete sentences, which is new for him. He loves school and his new friends.

My parents just returned from a trip to Las Vegas. My dad enjoyed some softball games and won a few, although not the tournament, and I think my mom enjoyed just seeing something different. They didn't do any typical Vegas things, but they did some sightseeing and enjoyed it very much.

So there's an update from us. Have a great weekend!

MK speaks

This morning Mk and I were walking out to her school bus and talking. I asked her if she had remembered to bring something we had talked about. I was reminded of the Boy Scout motto, "Be prepared," and mentioned it to her. Since she is a Girl Scout, I asked what the Girl Scout motto is. Her answer? "Be really prepared."

Have a nice day!
