That's a wrap.

And our football season has come to an end. It was a lot of fun, but
we are also ready for a break. It was Homecoming, and we lost big,
but there's still the dance tomorrow night.

As a teacher at the high school, I get to chaperone! I will try very
hard to let MK have her space, but I'm also looking forward to it.
I'll finally get to post pictures of MK in her dress. A group of her
friends is meeting for dinner before the dance. The girls get their
own table, and the moms get our own. It should be a lot of fun.

Have a great night!

Are you tired of parade pictures?

Sorry...there are a lot of parades around here.

For MK

MK was complaining that she doesn't have any pictures of herself with
the Big Man. So here are a couple.

Playing with the big boys

I sat outside this afternoon and watched T. Willy play football with
our neighbor and his friends. They are all a few years older than he
is, but they were so sweet to him. They helped him make touchdowns
and taught him how to block while watching out for his safety. He had
so much fun!

Not too many teachers dressed up today, but it was still fun. I took
candy in my basket and passed it out to kids in costume. They
appreciated it, and it gave me an excuse to talk to students that I
don't normally see.

Tomorrow is Homecoming. It is going to be a long day. MK probably
won't even go home. We have a pep rally at school, the parade and
then, of course, the game. It should be a lot of fun. It is also the
last football game of the season. We have loved it, but we will also
enjoy the break from guard practices and games.

Here are some pictures of T. Willy playing football and "Little Red
Riding Hood" at school.

Hey There, Little Red Riding Hood

It's Character Day, and I'm just hoping other teachers dressed up too.

Out to lunch

Happy Veterans' Day!

Thank you to all of our veterans for your service!!!

On Monday I was able to get away from school for a little while to
attend the Veterans' Day program at T. Willy's school. The Boy Scouts
presented the flags, an Air Force colonel spoke, and the kids sang
their hearts out! They gave the kindergarteners flags, and they waved
their hearts out. In the middle of the waving, I was able to snap a
picture of T. Willy.

The musicians

T. Willy has been asking me to get rubber bands for a long time. I
keep forgetting. Then last night he was at the store with me, but I
still didn't get them. Finally today he reminded me and was with me
to tell me why he wanted them. He wanted to make a guitar. So we
made him a cereal box guitar. You'll be able to tell who put the
"strings" on (me) because they go the wrong way. MK pointed it out.

Goodbye, Ida!

I slept until 7:57! I can't remember the last time I did that. It
was raining when I went to sleep, but it isn't now. We have power
and a quick survey of the yards shows no mess: not even limbs down.
It looks like it hit land enough west of us to spare us any problems.

So I think T. Willy and I are going to head out to breakfast. I doubt
the fire will be going, but it is a cozy feeling.

There is something amiss

My co-worker is a diehard Cowboys fan. I'm Eagles all the way. They played this weekend, and my Eagles did not come out on top. So my co-worker brought in her Cowboys hat to replace my Eagles hat for a week. It just doesn't look right. Thankfully, we are out of school until Thursday. School is cancelled tomorrow thanks to "Ida," and Wednesday is Veterans' Day. So I only have to look at that hat until Friday, and then sanity will be restored!

Good morning!

There's a hurricane coming! I think this is the latest I've
experienced one. It's headed our way and expected to bring a lot of
rain. School today...but maybe a day off tomorrow!

Good morning!

We made it through the night in the tent. T. Willy didn't toss or
turn. He had layers of clothes and blankets and stayed warm. I did
not. Usually I plan better. However, T. Willy had such a blast when
he woke up this morning that it warmed me right up. He went into the
house to get "breakfast" which was a bag of marshmallows. That's not
our regular breakfast fare, but it was okay today because we were out
too late last night to do s'mores.

The picture is of TW climbing through the "doggy" door of the tent.
He was in and out all morning.

Fun at the Fair

We had a great time at the fair. MK and her friends ran around, and
T. Willy hung around with me. When it was over we stopped at the Big
Man's restaurant for hot chocolate. He lit the fireplace just for
us. Now we're going home for the campout. T is exhausted, so I
predict he will go right to sleep. Sweet dreams!

MK in the parade

Parade Time!

We had to drop MK off an hour before the parade was to start, so T.
Willy and I found our place to sit, and we're waiting. We knew we'd
have time to wait, so I let him get a soda. He doesn't drink a lot of
soda, and his Dr. Pepper has given him some pep. He's running laps
behind me, but he's having fun, and I'm sitting in the shade; it's all
good!

MK: flag girl

Does 5:46 really count as sleeping in?

It really doesn't, but I'm wide awake. We only have one thing to do
today. MK is marching with the band in the Veteran's Day parade.
It's her first parade with the high school. Then she has the
Homecoming parade on Friday. After last night, our playoff hopes are
probably over, so the football season will likely end Friday.

T. Willy and I are going to set up the tent today and sleep in it
tonight. Our social calendar has largely revolved around football, so
it's time for him to get to do something. MK and I talked about
renting a movie tonight, so that's pretty much our plan for the day.
The Big Man is working his last late night for awhile. We may
actually get a normal schedule for a couple of weeks...or as normal as
ours gets.
