Getaway

We are back at my parents' house from our days at the Jersey shore.
We had so much fun, but it's also good to be back.

Today's picture is one that I took while conquering my fear of
heights. I rode a ferris wheel alone. And I took pictures!!!

The boys

While we are in New Jersey, my parents have the kids. Here is a
picture my mom sent of T. Willy and his cousins playing in the pool.

We went to a place called Battery Park tonight. It's on the Delaware
River and is a place I went many times as a kid. So here are
pictures of it.

The Barber

T. Willy's hair has gotten a little shaggy, so my nephew volunteered
to cut it for him. He did a really good job.

Look, Mom!!!

We're on a plane. Better than we did yesterday!!!

The face and feet of 4 a.m.

We're in the airport shuttle on our way to try this again.

Not so fast.

So...we went back to the airport. And around 7:00 realized our plane
wasn't there for, you know, our 6:55 flight. So we sat. They finally
made an announcement that it would be another hour, then another
hour. We'd definitely miss our connection, but they'd get us a hotel
room in Charlotte. Then they made an announcement that all of the
hotel rooms in Charlotte were full. So, we could go home, sit in the
Charlotte airport all night, or (the option we chose) get a hotel near
the airport and catch a flight in the morning. It worked well,
because the Big Man works early in the morning. We are trying to view
it all as an adventure, and we're really hoping things go smoothly
tomorrow. I'd better get some sleep. We have a 3:50 wakeup call, and
I don't want to miss anything. Good night!

So that was fun.

We went to the airport at ten for an 11:00 flight. Our flight was
cancelled, so we rebooked by phone. When I went to the counter to get
the boarding passes printed, reservations had only been made for two
of us. Good grief. So they booked us for 6:55. I couldn't see
sitting in the airport for 4+ more hours, so the Big Man came to get
us. We're home and we'll try this again tonight. It's much later than
anticipated, but it will be worth it when we get there.

T. Willy fell asleep for a few minutes, and there wasn't much else to
do, so I took pictures. MK and I loved that he fell asleep with his
hand in his pocket.

Travelin'

So we're on our way to the airport to go to DE for two weeks!!! And I
know I'm not supposed to advertise going out of town, but any unsavory
characters wanting to rob us reading this shouldn't get too excited.
The Big Man, our alarm and our vicious attack cat will still be
there. See you in eastern time!

Happy Father's Day!!!

We started our day with a big breakfast and gifts for the Big Man,
then we went to church. We just had lunch, and now it's time to
pack! It's been a full day already. Our flight leaves this time
tomorrow, so I'd better get busy.

Party day

MK and T. Willy were both invited to parties today. We went to T.
Willy's first then left a little early to take MK to hers. They were
both pool parties, and it was a perfectly hot and humid Florida day -
just right for the pool. I only have a picture of T. at his party: I
don't get to go to MK's parties anymore.

Now I'm sitting on my porch playing an online word game with the Big
Man's mom. It could nearly be described as "cool" sitting out here.
There's a light rain falling, and the bugs aren't biting me to death.
We leave for DE on Monday, so between church, the things we have
planned for the Big Man and packing, it will be a full day!

Back to the mall

The oil is here. We are so very sad.

I took the kids to the mall today. We had a great time together and
found some deals. MK is spending the night with friends, so T. Willy
and I had a quiet evening till the Big Man came home from work. Then
the boys went swimming while I had a few minutes to myself. It was
another good day that makes me really appreciate my job!!!

Family night

The kids and I went to the high school to clean my room some more
today. My classroom has a Mac, and MK and T. Willy had a great time
with it. We really had a fun time hanging out and running errands.

Instead of cooking, the Big Man met us at Whataburger tonight for
dinner!!! Oh joy!!! The pictures were taken there. Then the kids
came home and went swimming while the Big Man and I made plans for our
upcoming trip to Delaware!!!

So that was our day. Hooray for summer vacation.

Summer...officially

Today was my last day of work. I finished up paperwork then set to
work on my new room. Oh my. There is still so much to do to it. The
Big Man graciously came over on his day off and helped me. He had a
lot of good ideas, and I can't thank him enough. There is still more
work to do, but it's a start, and tomorrow I can sleep!

Tonight's picture is of me as a princess. The kids set up a shop for
us, and this is what I bought.

The beach!

The Big Man was off today, so we spent a family day at the beach. The
weather was hot and sunny: a perfect beach day. Our beaches remain
free of oil, but it's definitely on everyone's minds. Here is a
picture of a bus fron the Department of Environmental Protection
stationed at the beach.

Graduation!!!

Tonight was the high school graduation. We had such a good time.
Due to the subject that I teach, some of my students really struggled
to achieve what they did, and it was so nice to share it with them.

School ended yesterday, but I still worked today. I am changing
rooms, so I had plenty to do. I cleaned my room yesterday and saw my
new room. Oh my. I have a lot of work to do, but I'm really looking
forward to it.

So here are some pictures. The first is of my view before the
ceremony. They lined all of the seniors on the field. It was pretty
neat to see that. I have to give kudos to the administrators. They
graduated 400 (ish) seniors in an hour and 14 minutes. Talk about
efficient!

O-R-E-O

Here is another pic of T. Willy at the beach yesterday. It seems that
there have been a lot of pictures of T. lately. Mostly it's because MK
has an actual social life. She is at a friend's house now as I
write. Maybe she'll take some pictures for me while she's there.

A day at the beach

The boys had a great time, and they had a beautiful day for the
beach. The Big Man came home planning a family trip on Saturday!

The Big Man and T. Willy are going to the beach for T's end of the
year field trip. It should be a great time for them. I really would
like to go, but we're giving finals. Only two days left for the kids!!!

They made these shirts for the kids in T's class to wear on the trip.

Aviator Day

Today was the big end of the year festival at T. Willy's school. We went to several of these when MK went there, so it brought back a lot of fun memories as well as being a lot of fun this time around too. T. Willy played a lot of games, and he won a soda in a ring toss and a cake in the Cake Walk. MK brought Daniel, and they saw a lot of friends and former teachers. Pictures!

Family

T. Willy's Sunday School class talked about family today. The kids
drew their families on a mural, and here is his. He is the figure to
the top left. The orange girl on top is MK. I'm the orange one on the
bottom, and the green one on bottom is the Big Man. (The blue belongs
to another family.) He also included our cat.

Busy day

The Big Man worked and MK had a party plus a movie date, so T. Willy
and I just stayed home on this mostly rainy day. MK took a pic of
herself and a friend after he had cupcake thrown on him.
